Former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales is getting praises for her grit and grace in dealing with a travel ban in Hong Kong.

In a Twitter post, Senator Francis Escudero admitted his admiration for Morales, citing her brilliance and composure in the face of Hong Kong border challenge.

“I may not always agree with her, but I cannot help but admire the courage & grace of Former SC Justice & Former Ombudsman Conchita Morales. Even under difficult circumstances, she remained composed, magnanimous & exuded a lot of wisdom with her spoken words. Kudos to you ma’am!” Escudero tweeted.

The senator also said the case of Morales should be a “wake-up call” for the government to provide assistance to all Filipinos in need especially when abroad.

“I consider what happened to Former Ombudsman Morales as a wake up call because, for me, providing assistance & clarifying all denials of entry imposed by any State on any Filipino is part of the DFA’s job of protecting/defending our nationals especially when they are abroad,” he said.

“While immigration policies are the sole prerogative of every sovereign nation, nothing prevents the DFA from providing any & all assistance to its citizens who are abroad & inquiring or getting a clarification as to what these immigration policies are as applied to its citizens,” he added.
