If I go down, you go down! Duterte asks Drilon: Did you craft ‘onerous’ Manila Water, Maynilad contracts?

President Rodrigo Duterte wants to know if Senator Franklin Drilon was among those who crafted the government’s alleged irregular contracts with Manila Water and Maynilad.
In a speech delivered in Malacañang Tuesday evening, Duterte remembered that Drilon warned him against reviewing government contracts.
“I distinctly recall that Drilon said something, ‘Presidente Duterte, do not tinker with that contract because we will end up paying so many billions of pesos.’ Senator Drilon, are you one of those who crafted the contract? I’m asking you,” the President said.
“Ako, I said, I’m ready to go down. Hindi kita tinatakot. Pero ‘pag bumagsak ako, dadalhin talaga kita. I will — I will… I’m not — I’m not — nagtakot-takot. I’m not challenging you. You just tell the people the truth. You read the contract aloud and say if it is good for the people.
“But do not f*** with me — takutin mo ako billions of pesos. If I go down, you go down. I am ready anytime. I’m ready to be destroyed anytime. But I will also destroy because you destroyed my country,” he added.
Duterte’s comments came after the the Permanent Court of Arbitration in Singapore ordered the Philippine government to pay Maynilad P3.6 billion and Manila Water P7.4 billion for the non-implementation of tariff rate increases.
