If there’s money for junket of Duterte rabid fans, there should be funds for teachers’ pay hike – Pangilinan
Senator Francis Pangilinan is seeking the passage of a bill that will grant an increase in the salary of public school teachers.
Pangilinan, in a Facebook post, said if the government had travel funds for its loyalists, it should be able to bankroll the proposed salary hike for teachers.
He made the comment after Palace defended the presence of a number of celebrities in President Duterte’s visit to Russia. The celebrities, including actors Cesar Montano and Philip Salvador, reportedly paid for their own travel expenses.
SUPPORT Senate Bill 37 or the Basic Education Teachers Pay Increase Act of 2019!” he said.
Senate Bill 37 or the Basic Education Teachers Pay Increase Act of 2019 proposes an 10,000 additional bonus for teachers in three tranches. The bill seeks the grant of P4,000 per month for the first year, P3,000 for the second year, and P3,000 for the third year.
