I’m not familiar with galunggong! Cynthia Villar doesn’t care if round scad prices shoot up
Senator Cynthia Villar showed her elitist side Wednesday (April 29) when she acknowledged she’s not familiar with galunggong, the so-called “poor man’s fish.”
Villar, who chairs the Senate committee on agriculture and food, made the admission when asked by ABS-CBN broadcaster Karen Davila what price she would suggest as a ceiling for galunggong (round scad).
“I’m not familiar with galunggong hindi ko naman makita yung importance ng galunggong,” she said in an interview over ANC’s “Headstart.”
Villar said she does not see what the fuss over galunggong is about amid reports that it is now being sold at P140 to P170 per kilo, which is higher than the price for other fish and meat varieties
“Can we not live without galunggong? Can we not find another replacement for galunggong? I don’t think it’s that important,” she said.
