Imbes na magturuan, Ping tells PDEA, BOC to act together vs drugs; Wala pang nahuli na bigtime!
Saying nothing can be achieved through finger-pointing, Sen. Panfilo Lacson advised the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Bureau of Customs to work together against the illegal drug trade.
Lacson’s statement came after the PDEA and BOC blamed each other for the entry of a ton of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) into the country.
“Fingerpointing won’t help their campaigny any. What is annoying is how come up to now, and it’s been more than 2 years but they haven’t busted any of the big-time shabu smugglers,” he said in a text message to Senate media.
So far, he said those apprehended by authorities in the anti-drug war were considered small fry, wearing just short pants and slippers.
Yet, Lacson said the Senate had been giving the PDEA and BOC all the budgetary support they need.
“We’ve been giving them all the budgetary support they need. I should know because I am the sponsor of their budget in the Senate,” he said.
