Imee Marcos seeks to tweak Cory Aquino’s CARP law: Write off farmers’ debts, hasten land titling
Senator Imee Marcos is seeking the passage of a law that will fulfill the emancipation of tenants from the bondage of the soil.
The bill, filed by Marcos, seeks to amend Republic Act No. 6657 also known as the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law signed by the late President Corazon Aquino as well as Presidential Decree No. 27 on the emancipation of tenant famers signed by her father late President Ferdinand Marcos.
“Senator Imee Marcos filed a bill which aims to fulfill the land reform program started by PD No. 27 and RA No. 6657 by acknowledging the inability of farmers to pay the land given to them,” a Facebook post of the senator read.
“The bill also proposes to write off the amortizations and expedite the titling process to agrarian reform beneficiaries,” it added.
