Imee Marcos twits Lolo Sonny Dominguez: ‘Nag-uulyanin na yata?’
The word war between Senator Imee Marcos and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III is far from over.
Marcos took another swipe at Dominguez for his supposed “disdain for poor farmers” and refusal to recognize the success of the Masagana 99 during her father’s administration.
Dominguez, former agriculture secretary during the administration of then President Corazon Aquino, earlier said he cleaned up the mess of the Masagana 99. The government, he said, had to rescue 800 rural banks bankrupted by the rice production production implemented by the elder Marcos.
Senator Marcos however criticized Dominguez for his alleged poor memory, saying the Philippines was able to export rice abroad under the Masagana 99 program.
“Wawa naman si Lolo Sonny, nag-uulyanin na yata? Ang linaw ng data, kaya nga nagtataka kao bakit ayaw tanggapin ni Sonny ang katotothanang nakapag export tayo ng bigas dahil sa Masagana 99 at sa sipag na rin ng mga magsasaka natin,” she said in a Facebook post.
She also criticized Dominguez for giving up on rice farmers after he supposedly blamed poor farmers who could not pay back their loans.
“What our country’s chief economic manager is really saying is that rice farmers are a pain in the budget and are not worth subsidizing. He has given up on our rice farmers ever regaining their export
potential and will let unregulated rice importation do the dirty jobof snuffing them out,” she said.
