Imee seeks 1M signatures for Marcos burial at heroes’ cemetery

Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos has called on Marcos loyalists to support an online petition pushing for the burial of her father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

“Sign the Petition and share to all our kailians!” Marcos wrote on her Facebook page, sharing a post about the petition posted on www.change. org.

The petition, titled #ilibingNa si President Ferdinand Marcos sa Libingan ng mga Bayani, aims to gather one million signatures and will be submitted to the Supreme Court.

The high court recently started hearing oral arguments on the petitions against the controversial burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. President Duterte earlier said Marcos deserved to be buried at the heroes’ cemetery because he was a former president and a soldier.

“We do not ask you to change what you know of him, or how you remember him, or seek praise for his deeds. Good or evil, good and evil, how you judge former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, is your personal belief,” the online petition read.

“One thing we cannot deny, is that he was once a President of the Republic of the Philippines, a former Secretary of Defense, and a soldier, entitling him, by decree, pursuant to AFP Regulations G161-137, to be buried at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani,” it added.
