United States Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton will remain in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City until he gets deported, said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Saturday (Sept. 12).
Guevarra pointed this out even though Pemberton’s custody has been turned over to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
“Mr. Pemberton will remain under BI custody at the Jusmag (Joint Military Assitance Group) facility till his departure this weekend,” he said.
Pemberton has been detained at the Jusmag detention facility in Camp Aguinaldo since 2015 over his conviction for the 2014 killing of a transgender.
After President Rodrigo Duterte granted him Pardon, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) turned over Pemberton’s custody to the BI last Friday morning (Sept. 11).
