The Sultan of Brunei’s nephew, who is competing in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, was rushed to the hospital over the weekend after suffering an allergic reaction to peanuts, ABS-CBN News reported Wednesday (November 27).
Brunei football team captain Faiq Jefri Bolkiah was rushed to the Manila Doctor’s Hospital on Sunday night (November 24), said the team’s medical staff, Faisal Hashim.
Faisal said Faiq had an allergy attack during dinner time at the hotel they were billeted.
“It was in the curry. His lips got swollen and his throat felt tight. I brought him to the Manila Doctor’s Hospital myself accompanied by one of the staff,” he said.
Faisal said SEA Games organizers had been informed of Faiq’s peanut allergy beforehand.
While Faiq has fully recovered from the allergy attack, Faisal asked that each ingredient in the team captain’s meal be listed to avoid a repeat of the incident.
Faiq is the nephew of Hassanal Bolkiah, the sultan of Brunei, and son of Prince Jefri Bolkiah.
