MANILA – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday insisted that senatorial bets from Otso Diretso slate have no morals grounds to bring up the issue of honesty against candidates being supported by Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).

Duterte issued a statement as a follow up to her earlier pronouncement last Wednesday that honesty should not be an issue for every senatorial candidate for the upcoming May 13 midterm polls.

“I’m helping the Black Hole candidates dig themselves out of their own hole when I say honesty should not be an issue,” said Mayor Duterte.

The presidential daughter last week likened all members of the opposition senate slate to ‘black holes’ in space for allegedly being “very depressing, dark and very disorganized.”

Duterte following HNP’s proclamation rally in Parañaque City was irked by series of questions with regards to the college degrees of administration senatorial bet, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and the allegations made by Magdalo Partylist Rep. Gary Alejano that PDP Laban senatorial candidate Bong Go used government funds for his campaign t-shirts which were distributed during the national assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas last month.

She insisted that Alejano and other members of the opposition’s senatorial slate have no ethical inducement to talk about the value of honesty because they were allegedly spreading lies

The Davao City mayor added that Otso Diretso bets are frustrated enough to use inaccurate, misleading statements and even direct lies” when they attack other candidates or even his father President Rodrigo Duterte, just for the sake of their own political gains.

“They know they are stretching the truth and yet they deny that they are lying,” said Mayor Duterte.

She also advised all members of the opposition slate not to criticize other candidates about the issue of honesty “because they are themselves liars.”
