Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla, Davao de Oro Rep. Manuel Zamora and 15 other politicians have joined the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).

Lakas-CMD President and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez administered the virtual oath taking of the new members on Wednesday afternoon.

“Our focus now is to use the party’s strength to help our people in this time of COVID-19 pandemic,” said Romualdez, chairman of the House Committee on Rules.

Romualdez said his party will continue to work closely with Speaker Lord Allan Velasco to “wrap up the approval of the entire legislative agenda of President Duterte before our term ends in 2022.”

Revilla, a former member of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas

ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) was appointed as the party’s provincial head in Cavite.

Meanwhile, Zamora remains a member of the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) being led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. He was appointed as the party’s head in Davao de Oro.

The others who joined Lakas were former Occidental Mindoro Rep. Amelita Villarosa; ex-Batanes Rep. Carlo Oliver Diasnes; Glan, Sarangani Mayor Vivien Yap; Antique Board Member Emmanual Palacios Jr.; former Buluan, Maguindanao Mayor Ibrahim Mangudadatu; Aklan Board Member Nelson Santamaria; Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo of Lanao del Norte; Cotabato Board Member Shirlyn Macasarte-Villanueva; Aurora Board Member Philip Bautista; Anthony Wooden of Mountain Province; retired Police Col. Ronald Joseph Ocaya of Zamboanga del Norte; Passi City, Iloilo Vice Mayor Jesry

Palmares; Nueva Valencia, Guimaras Mayor Emmanuel Galila, Ma. Alana Samantha Taliño Santos who was also appointed as party head of Region 12 and Councilor Ralph Ryan Rafael who was appointed chairman of Cotabato’s Third District.

Currently, Lakas-CMD has 26 members in the House of Representatives and 22 party-list representative allies.

Lakas-CMD had produced two presidents– Fidel V. Ramos and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who also served as Speaker of the 17th Congress.
