Inquirer blasts Locsin’s conduct unbecoming of a diplomat, public official
A major broadsheet has denounced Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. for his “profane and insulting” tweet at one of its journalists.
Locsin’s disrespectful conduct was unbecoming of a diplomat and a public official, said the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
“The Philippine Daily Inquirer takes umbrage at the profane and insulting tweet addressed by Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. to PDI reporter Jhesset Enano on Nov. 5,” the Inquirer said in a statement posted on Twitter.
“It was unbecoming of a diplomat and public official, and totally undeserved by Enano, who was doing her job reporting on President Duterte at the Asean summit with the professionalism, focus and comprehensiveness that our readers deserve,” it said.
Locsin earlier hurled invectives at the Inquirer reporter online after she tweeted the President’s absence at the closing session of the regional summit in Thailand.
The former lawmaker represented Duterte during the summit closing ceremony since the President wanted to catch an early flight back to the country.
