The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has received more public queries during the COVID-19 virus pandemic in 2020 compared to the previous year, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said.
Morente said last year the BI’s National Operations Center (BINOC) received and attended to some 120,438 queries received via its hotline, email, and social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
“It’s around 141% increase in the number of queries addressed by our BINOC compared to 2019,” he said in a statement.
The BI chief said queries received through e-mail rose by 197 percent.
While, those received through social media rose by 77 percent.
Morente noted the queries concerned information about government restrictions on international travel.
