Beware of fraudulent get-rich-quick schemes.
Former Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas has advised the public not to fall prey to investment scams.
Roxas told people to be careful with their savings after his name was dragged in a controversial double-your-money scheme. The former senator took to Twitter on Friday to strongly deny any connection with the Chiyuto Creative Wealth Document Facilitation Services.
“Hindi ko kilala at lalong hindi ko ini-endorso si Don Chiyuto at ang Chiyuto Creative Wealth Document Facilitation Services aka Chiyuto Double Your Money Scheme,” he tweeted.
Roxas said he has not endorsed any endorsed any investment or financial product, program, service or business.
“Please be careful of, or better, avoid people who say that I am connected with their investment or financial business products,” he said.
Before people invest their money, Roxas said they should check the background of investment entities, particularly their registration papers with concerned state agencies.
“I advise you to be very careful with your money, as these are your very hard-earned savings,” he said.
Roxas gave a few tips before investing their money in a financial program. The checklist includes verification at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Department of Trade and Industry.
“Bago ibigay ang pinaghirapang pera, siguraduhing legitimate business yan,” he said.
“- Rehistrado sa SEC – BSP;
- May kaukulang lisensiya para tumanggap ng investment;
- Look for authentic, up-to-date registrations and certificates of compliance from SEC, BSP, DTI, DOLE, Insurance Commission, mayors permit, etc as appropriate;
- Check kung may na-isyung advisory o warning ang mga government agencies tungkol sa mga lumalapit sa inyo.”
Roxas plans to take legal action after his name was linked to the investment scheme.
“I have asked my lawyers to refer this matter to the appropriate agencies,” he said.
