Is PNoy running for barangay captain?

Only to get a full pension, President Benigno Aquino III joked Monday that he was thinking of running for barangay captain when he ends his term in 2016.

In his speech at the national assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas at Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, Aquino said just like his Budget Secretary, Butch Abad, he would not receive a full pension credit because he would be short one year and six months from the required 20 years of government service to get a full pension when he steps down in June.

“Sa pagkakaunawa ko po, kasama sa patakaran para makuha ang buong pensiyon matapos magtrabaho sa gobyerno: Kailangang nasa 20 taon ang iyong pagseserbisyo. Noong magkuwenta po ako isang araw, pagdating ng 2016 ay meron akong 18 at kalahating taon. May kulang po akong isa’t kalahating taon,” Aquino said.

“Ang biruan nga po namin: Dapat yata mag-apply tayo sa kanya-kanyang barangay, baka sakaling may puwestong puwede tayong i-appoint nang makumpleto natin ang kinakailangang 20 taon at makumpleto natin ang pensiyon,” he added drawing laughter from the crowd.

Aquino said Abad’s case would be even worse because he would be short only six months and he would be way balder than him by then.

Aquino has repeatedly said that he would retire from public office when his term ends at noon of June 30, 2016.
