Iskolar ng yabang: UP regent Spocky Farolan hits back at critics of UPCAT post
An abogado appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to the University of the Philippines Board of Regents has drawn flak for responding with arrogance to a post about the results of the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT).
Regent Frederick “Spocky” Farolan on April 6 announced on his Facebook page that the UPCAT results will be released on April 30.
Farolan’s post drew several comments, including criticism about the delay in the release of the results.
The comments provoked the abogado to respond that critics should make sure they pass the test.
“Forgive me for saying this…pero ‘yung mga kung makahirit e parang hulog ng Diyos kayo para sa UP, siguraduhin ‘nyo lang na papasa kayo ng UPCAT. Dahil kung hindi, lalaitin ko pati kaibuturan ng kaluluwa niyo,” Farolan said in the comments thread of his post.
“Ipapatikim ko sa iyo ang purong panlalait ng isang tunay na pumasa ng UPCAT at nakapagtapos ‘di lamang ng undergrad pero pati na ng law sa UP ,” he added.
The abogado noted that even he is not spared from waiting for the test results for a niece or nephew.
Farolan said he will make sure critics who pass the UPCAT will meet him to know the meaning of the phrase “consequences of your actions.”
The BOR is the highest policy making body in UP, the country’s premier state university.
After drawing flak for his comments, Farolan apologized for his temper.
“As for the how they felt degraded, I request that they apologize as well to all the UP personnel they make out to be sleeping on the job and intentionally delaying the release,” he said.
“Medyo hindi pa ganun kalamig ulo ko about this so try asking me later,” Farolan added.
