Following the declarations made by President Rodrigo Duterte, the Supreme Court (SC) announced on Wednesday (May 20) that there will be no courts nationwide on Eid’l Fitr, the Feast of Ramdhan.

“In view of Proclamation No. 944, declaring May 25, 2020 as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan), there will be no work in all courts nationwide,” the SC announced.

In his proclamation, Duterte still reminded the public to still observe quarantine rules.

“The entire Filipino nation must have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, subject to existing community quarantine and social distancing measures,” the proclamation read.

“In order to bring religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Monday, 25 May 2020, a regular holiday throughout the country,” it added.
