It’s time to bring Trillanes to justice – Atienza
By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV should be finally brought to justice for all the failed coup attempts he committed during the Arroyo administration, Senior Deputy Minority Leader Lito Atienza said.
Atienza of Buhay party-list group said despite the amnesty given to him by the previous Aquino Administration, Trillanes kept mum about the financiers of the Magdalo group involved in two attempts to oust then President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“It’s about time that Trillanes is made to answer for all the damages he (and the Magdalo Group) had cost the country,” said Atienza.
Atienza, former mayor of Manila, said despite being a civilian now, Trillanes and other co-conspirators should be held accountable under a military court for the Oakwood mutiny in 2003 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007.
“Whoever got involved there should be punished under the Articles of War. Tingan niyo, they were all military men. Pero wala eh, walang nagdusa,” said Atienza.
Atienza explained that amnesty of Trillanes was deemed null and void if former President Benigno “Aquino” III failed to sign his amnesty paper.
