Former Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile has denied seeing Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. at his father ’s birthday party at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital last Feb. 14 but confirmed that Senator Jinggoy Estrada briefly stopped by to greet the 91-year-old lawmaker that day.
“I was there and I saw Senator Jinggoy. I did not see Senator Bong. I will say that much. I was one of the first ones to arrive and I was one of the last ones to leave. Nung umalis ako, wala, hindi ko nakita si Senator Bong,” the younger Enrile told ANC on Friday.
Asked how long Estrada stayed, Enrile said: ”Just a few minutes. I think nagpa-checkup lang siya and he came over to greet the old man. Nagpa-check lang yata siya ng BP (blood pressure). He was a little busy so he could not stay that long.”
State prosecutors have released photos showing a man resembling Revilla at Sen. Enrile’s birthday party. The incident has led to the relief of the PNP custodial officers who accompanied Revilla to the hospital.
The senator said he went to the hospital to seek treatment after experiencing chest pains. But Interior Secretary Mar Roxas said Revilla never went to the emergency room where he was supposed to be treated, and instead had the chief of the ER go to Enrile’s birthday party at a special ward so he could be checked up.
