Rey Leonardo “Jagger” Guerrero will remain as Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs, President Rodrigo Duterte said.
“I am satisfied with General Guerrero and he stays there,” Duterte said in a media interview on Monday.
The Manila Times earlier reported that Duterte offered Guerrero’s job to special envoy to China, William de Jesus Lima.
But, the President clarified: “Jagger remains, it was just a, we were just shooting the breeze who are capable guys to handle.”
Duterte also instructed Guerrero to fire Customs employees involved in corruption.
“There are still some complaints so I’ll talk to him lalo na yung mga tao na sinabi ko na paalisin na niya. Some of them are lingering there. So sabihin ko kay Jagger, alisin mo na yan kasi yan yung mga tao na who have there for 25 years, 20 years, puro corruption ang ginawa,” he said.
