If Sarangani Vice Governor Jinkee Pacquiao would have her way, her husband’s fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. should be his last before he hangs up his boxing gloves for good.
While remaining fully supportive of Manny Pacquiao’s boxing career, Jinkee said she would prefer if he retires from the ring after his May 2 mega-fight with Mayweather because he already got what he wanted— a match with the undefeated American boxer.
“After this, mag-retire na siya kasi ito lang naman talaga ang hinihintay ng lahat, at syempre hinihintay rin niya. Gusto niya talagang makalaban si Mayweather kaya siya nga ang unang pumirma. Mag-retire na sana siya after,” she said.
On Saturday, Mayweather and Pacquiao both confirmed they will face each other in the ring on May at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Oddsmakers have made the unbeaten American boxer a 2 1/2 to 1 favorite against Pacquiao, the sport’s sole eight-division champion.
The Filipino boxer is set to leave for Los Angeles, California on Feb. 28 to continue his training for his upcoming fight with Mayweather.
