A cop allegedly tagged as the protector of Manila’s suspected “drug queen,” Guia Gomez Castro, was cleared of all drug charges by a judge who earlier acquitted the daughter of convicted Chinese drug dealer Yu Luk Lai.
Judge Daniel Villanueva Branch 49 of the Manila Regional Trial Court acquitted PO2 Jolly Aliangan of the five cases filed by the National Bureau of Investigation in relation to the violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Villanueva gave more credence to the testimony of the accused and witnesses who were neighbors of Aliangan, also acquitted were his wife, and nephew who were also charged by the NBI of possession of illegal drugs.
Aliangan who was formerly assigned at the NCRPO’s Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs has been tagged as a ninja cop.
Ninja cops are policeman who steal, recycle and sell back to the streets drugs seized in police operations.
Aliangan in his counter affidavit accused NBI agents of extortion and planting of evidence.
At the time of his arrest, Aliangan was receiving a salary of P23,000 – owns three story house, luxury vehicles and has a collection of expensive watches.
Reports said that P6.9 million was recovered from his big house in Sampaloc, Manila along with guns and sachets of shabu by the NBI.
“Wherefore, premises considered, and on the grounds of reasonable doubt, the court hereby acquits the three accused of all charges in the five captioned cases,’’Villanueva in his decision dated February 11, 2020.
“In sum, there was no substantial compliance with section 21 . As such as taking into consideration other factual circumstances, as summarized and discussed, the Court can ne ver be certain that the alleged drug contraband and paraphernalia were indeed found in the actual and or constructive possession of the three accused.’’Villanueva said.
Last year, Aliangan was tagged by then National Capital Regional Police Office Director Major General Guillermo Eleazar as the protector of Castro following the arrest of one of his alleged illegal drugs couriers, Amelita Sabino near the house of the police officer.
Eleazar also said that despite being in jail, Aliangan continuous with his drug trafficking operation in Metro Manila and the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon province.
On May 25, 2016 the NBI operatives numbering to more than 20 arrested Aliangan in front of his house and searched his house on the virtue of the warrant issued by a Malabon Court.
