Kahit malakas kay Duterte: Sandiganbayan upholds Misuari’s indictment for graft
The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division remains unswayed in upholding the indictment of former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) governor Nur Misuari over charges concerning the alleged ghost purchases of text books worth P77.2 million.
The anti-graft court has issued a resolution junking his motion for reconsideration which sought to overturn its earlier ruling affirming his indictment over charges of two counts of graft and two counts of malversation.
“It bears stressing that accused-movant Misuari merely rehashed the same arguments regarding his alleged non-liability and lack of participation in the offenses charged,” read its resolution.
“Suffice it to say that the Court has long determined the existence of probable cause and has already resolved to proceed with trial to afford all the parties the full opportunity to present their case,” it added.
Under the charges, the founding chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) is accused for his involvement in the alleged anomalous purchase of educational materials from 2000 to 2001 when he was still ARMM governor.
The purchases were made from CPR Publishing House, MBJ Learning Tools, and White Orchids.
The Office of the Ombudsman which filed the case alleged that no deliveries were made for the educational materials.
However, Misuari argued that the payments were only released in 2003 and 2004 during the term of former ARMM gov. Parouk Hussin.
