Kahit nasa pamilya na katawan: DOJ to continue probe on peace consultant’s slay
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday (Aug. 13) confirmed that former Wirecard Asia executive, German national Christopher Reinhard Bauer, has died in the country.
Acting on his directive to verify reports of the German’s death, Guevarra said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was able to verify that Bauer died last July 27 “in a Parañaque hospital due to natural causes.”
“He was subsequently cremated,” Guevarra said.
The secretary said the NBI was able to verify Bauer’s death from official documents that were submitted.
“He was the same person summoned by the NBI in connection with the Wirecard fraud investigation,” said Guevarra.
Investigation showed that in 2015 Bauer had an inward remittance to his account from Wirecard Asia allegedly for “consultancy services rendered.”
“He appears to be a Philippine resident. Married to a Filipina. He was in the tour operations business,” Guevarra added.
