Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar on Wednesday (Nov. 4) has assured protection to persons who can become witnesses in corruption investigation of the task force led by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“Kung natatakot naman po silang lumapit dahil natatakot sila na baka yung mga sinumbong nila ay gaganti sa kanila at nanganganib sila para sa sarili nilang seguridad ay ang Department of Justice Witness Protection Program ay poprotektahan po sila,” she said during the Laging Handa media briefing.
“Kaya ‘wag po sila mag-alala at hindi po sila pababayaan ng Department of Justice,” she added.
Villar cited that the Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers who have become whistleblowers in the “pastillas” money-making racket are currently under the Witness Protection Program.
Meanwhile, she noted that the task force will be meeting again today (Nov. 3) and included during the discussions is the on structure of the task force’s secretariat.
Villar said it will be the secretariat which will accept tips and complaints from the public concerning corrupt activities.
“Kapag na-set up na ito ay saka po namin iisa-isahin ang mga puwede pong unang imbestigahan sa mga ahensyang natukoy na uunahin,” the DOJ spokesperson said.
