Kapamilya rin: Trillanes backs petition for ABS-CBN franchise renewal
The ABS-CBN television network, which is on the verge of closure if its franchise is not renewed this March, has found another ally.
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has signed an online petition seeking the renewal of legislative franchise of the Lopez-owned tv network.
Trillanes posted the pro-Kapamilya petition on his Facebook page, urging his followers to support the network. His post has earned more than 2,500 likes.
The petition has been launched by the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines to ask Congress “to do what is right and immediately pass the bill to renew ABS-CBN’s franchise.”
President Duterte has openly opposed the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN, accusing the network of alleged biased reporting and swindling him of not airing his campaign advertisement in 2016.
Congress has yet to act on pending bills on the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
