Otso Diretso senatorial candidate Chel Diokno has asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to explain the offenses that blogger Rodel Jayme allegedly committed by sharing “Ang Totoong Narco List” videos.
Diokno, an abogado, said the DOJ must ascertain whether Jayme was behind the production of the video or merely shared it.
“Korte Suprema na ang nagsabi na hindi pwedeng parusahan ang isang tao dahil sa simpleng pag-share lang. Ngayon, kung si Mr. Jayme ang gumawa ng mga video, ibang usapan na yan,” he said in a statement.
The National Bureau of Investigation on Thursday filed inciting to sedition charges against Jayme over the release of the video linking President Rodrigo Duterte’s relatives to the illegal drug trade.
Jayme is the webmaster of metrobalita.net, where the videos were first posted.
Diokno said he will keep tabs on the case filed against Jayme to find out whether there’s truth to the allegations made by alias Bikoy, the supposed whistleblower featured in the videos.
