Kawalan rin nila yan: Ping says PhilHealth officials who won’t attend next Senate hearing forfeit chance to air side
It’s their loss, not the Senate’s.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson said this Saturday of officials of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) who fail to attend the next Senate hearing looking into corruption at the agency.
“Their failure to attend Tuesday’s hearing is their loss, not the Senate’s, simply because they won’t be there to respond to new issues from the resource persons and some new incriminating documents in our possession,” Lacson said in a statement.
Earlier Saturday, PhilHealth officials including president Ricardo Morales and EVP Arnel de Jesus sent communications to the Senate Committee of the Whole they would not be able to attend the Aug. 11 hearing for medical reasons.
Both officials sent medical certifications indicating they were advised not to attend the hearing.
However, Lacson also wished Morales well in his fight against cancer, saying it is unfortunate the issue on corruption came up while Morales’ health is at a low point.
” I wish PhilHealth President-CEO Morales well in his fight against the Big C. In all sincerity, I join his family in praying for his recovery. It is unfortunate that these new corruption issues have exploded at a time when his health condition is at a low point,” he said.
