Kayo ang nag akusa eh! Palace dares Catholic Church: Prove gov’t behind death threats vs priests

Malacanang challenged on Wednesday the Catholic Church to show proof that the alleged death threats received by some priests come from the government.
This, after the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines dared the Duterte administration to prove that the threatening text messages against the clergy did not come from the government.
“Suffice it to state that it is elementary in law that the one who alleges must prove,” presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said in a statement.
Panelo added: “Since the priests are the ones accusing the government or the President as being behind those death threats, it stands to reason that they have to prove their accusation. The burden of proof lies on them.”
He also urged priests getting threats to report to police for the latter to investigate the matter.
“Our position is that they bring their concern officially to any law enforcement agency so that the latter may conduct an investigation, and at the same time secure their safety,” said Panelo.
