Kesa mapunta pera sa kaldero! Risa Hontiveros to Alan Cayetano: Nothing wrong with appeal for protective gear
Senator Risa Hontiveros has taken another swipe at House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for singling her out for her opposition to the law giving President Rodrigo Duterte additional powers to deal with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a tweet posted Tuesday (March 24), Hontiveros said there’s nothing wrong with appeals for protective gear for health workers.
She made the statement after Cayetano slammed her in a Facebook live video for her “deceitful” and “dishonest” stand on the law for special powers.
“Alan, there’s nothing deceitful about wanting the people to get the protections they deserve & making sure funds are being spent on what they really need. People don’t want another P50M kaldero,” Hontiveros said, referring to the controversy over the P50-million cauldron that Cayetano commissioned for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Hontiveros was the lone senator who voted against the bill giving President Duterte additional powers to deal with the COVID-19 emergency. It has been signed into law.
