Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has slammed the decision of the House of Representatives to hold its session Wednesday (January 22) in Batangas, amid Taal Volcano’s unrest.

In a status message posted on his personal Facebook account Monday (January 21), Pangilinan said the lawmakers’ presence in the calamity-stricken province will just put additional strain on local officials.

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said the session in Batangas will allow lawmakers to listen to the concerns of local officials, first responders and evacuees.

The House’s session will be held at the Batangas City Convention Center, which is outside the 14-kilometer danger zone around Taal Volcano.
