Senator Kiko Pangilinan on Monday said he was not surprised by the the appointment of National Capital Region Police Office chief Debold Sinas as the new Philippine National Police chief.
“With all due respect, hindi na sorpresa na ang mga kakampi o kaalyado na nasasangkot sa mga kaso o katiwalian ay hindi pinaparasuhan, kinokonsinti o di kaya ay promoted pa,” he told reporters in a Viber message.
Pangilinan said Malacañang gave the same reward to former Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon, former BOC chief and now Tesda chief Isidro Lapeña, and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
On Monday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced Sinas’ appointment as PNP chief, saying it will take effect Tuesday, November 10, said.
Last May, Sinas hosted a mañanita at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, violating lockdown rules and causing outrage.
