Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr. is mourning the passing of Eddie Ilarde, a former senator and radio-television personality.

Ilarde, known for his tv programs “Kahapon Lamang” and “Student Canteen,” died last Tuesday. He was 85.

Locsin took to Twitter to express grief and tribute to Ilarde, remembering his kindness and great talent.

“Eddie Ilarde died. The first of the great Filipino talents of my generation and others that followed. He started television,” he tweeted.

Locsin said he believes Ilarde is now in heaven.

“He remained to the end a kind and always helping man. One guy I know is in heaven,” he said.
