Koko files counter-affidavit on raps over hospital visit
Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III has filled his counter-affidavit to the complaint which accused him of violating quarantine protocols.
Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said on Thursday (July 16) that Pimentel e-mailed his counter-affidavit to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
On the other hand, Malcontento said the case will be submitted for resolution if the complainant will no longer file a reply.
“Let’s wait if complainant will file a reply,” said Malcontento who noted that the complainant will be given five days to submit the reply after receiving a copy of the counter-affidavit.
The complaint was filed by former Unversity of Makati law dean Rico Quicho who accused of having violated Republic Act 11332 (the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act) and its implementing rules and other Department of Health (DOH) regulations.
Before admitting he has COVID-19, Pimentel accompanied his then pregnant wife at the Makati Medical Center (MMC) last March 24 even though he was supposed to under self-quarantine for being a person under investigation (PUI).
The MMC has already denounced his visit to the hospital that day.
