Kris Aquino will not run against Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for president, but is willing to challenge a Marcos for the position.
In a recent, free-wheeling interview with reporters, Aquino said she found the “narrative” of an Aquino running against a Duterte “so wrong.”
“Ayoko pong upakan niya ako. Sorry ah, ito yung honest. I don’t see myself in a position of going against her because I find the narrative so wrong,” the actress said of the presidential daughter.
Aquino said she is willing to yield to Duterte in a presidential race because their families are not rivals.
“Kung Duterte ang tatakbo, ibibigay ko na po sa kanila ‘yun kasi wala kaming malalim na ugat, sugat or hindi namin sila kaaway,” she said.
The actress, however, said she would gamble “everything” if she were up against a Marcos for the presidency.
“Kung tinanong niyo ako kung tatakbo ako kung Marcos ang tatakbo, bahala na si Batman, yes, isusugal ang lahat kung yun ang kalaban,” she said.
Aquino’s father, the late senator Benigno Aquino Jr., was a known critic of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
The former President’s son and namesake, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ran for vice president in 2016 but lost to Leni Robredo.
