Kapa Community Ministry may be far smaller than religious powerhouses Iglesia Ni Cristo or El Shaddai, but its endorsement benefited three party-list groups in the midterm polls.

Three out of the four party-list groups endorsed by Kapa won the elections and will be in the incoming 18th Congress.

A video posted on Youtube titled “Bong Go on Kapa” showed Kapa’s founder, Joel Apolinario, talking to his followers ahead of the May 13 elections.

In Bisaya, he told Kapa members to vote for the following party-list groups: CIBAC, RECOBODA, OFW Family and PBB.

Only PBB failed to win a seat in the party-list race.

Jesus Is Lord church founder Brother Eddie Villanueva is CIBAC’s first nominee and will be part of the 18th Congress. The party-list won two seats.

Senator Manny Pacquiao’s brother Bobby, meanwhile, will represent OFW Family in the House.

RECOBODA’s first nominee is former Davao Sur Electric Cooperative General Manager Godofredo Guya.

In the same video, Apolinario endorsed the candidacies of Senators-elect Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Imee Marcos and Bong Go.

Kapa is accused of running an investment scam involving asking its members a donation of at least P10,000. The donors are promised a monthly return of 30 percent of their investment monthly without doing anything else.

Duterte has ordered the shutdown of Kapa’s operations.
