Vice President Leni Robredo questioned Thursday (May 23) the administration’s sudden interest in looking into the fresh claims made by Peter Joemel Advincula, the man claiming to be the whistleblower Bikoy.

In a press conference, Robredo said she couldn’t understand why Advincula suddenly appears credible to the administration just because he linked the Liberal Party to the production of the “Ang Totoong Narco List” video series.

“Ang hindi ko maintindihan, shinoot-down na iyong credibility, pero ngayon na oposisyon naman iyong inaakusahan niya, parang, all of a sudden credible siya ulit. So nakakapagduda,” she said.

Addressing the administration, Robredo added: “Nakakapagduda na kayo iyong nagsasabi na sinungaling iyong taong ito, hindi mapapagkatiwalaan, tapos ngayon dahil hindi na kayo iyong itinuturo, iyong oposisyon na, all of a sudden kailangan pakinggan.”

Earlier in the day, Advincula faced the media at Camp Crame to refute the previous statements he made linking President Rodrigo Duterte’s family to the illegal drug trade.

Advincula claimed as Bikoy in the “Ang Totoong Narco List” videos that members of his family and Senator-elect Bong Go were receiving kickbacks from a drug syndicate.

In his turnaround, Advincula accused the LP of masterminding the videos’ production to topple the administration so Robredo could become president.

He also claimed to have met Robredo during the supposed meetings he held with opposition members.

Chief Presidential Counsel and Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, who earlier attacked Advincula’s cresibility, now said Advincula’s latest claims are worth looking into.

“Now that he comes clean, ibang usapan na ‘yan kasi marami siyang tinuturo, hindi lang siya. Parang napakalaki na ng grand design. In fairness to the people he pointed out, you better substantiate,” he said.

The Vice President maintained that she is not and will not be a party to any destabilization plot.

“Waste of time iyong pagpaplano para pabagsakin iyong administrasyon. Saka tingin ko subversion iyon ng will ng mamamayan,” Robredo said.
