Kwentong barbero! Pacquiao thinks ‘GCTA for sale’ claim made by Hontiveros exaggerated
Senator Manny Pacquiao thinks claims of corruption in the grant of early release of convicts under the Good Conduct and Time Allowance (GCTA) Law is blown up out of proportion.
” Sa ngayon, kwentong barbero lang yang GCTA-for-sale na sinasabi nila dahil wala pa naman silang maipakitang ebidensiya,” Pacquiao said in a statement.
Pacquiao echoed Senator Bato dela Rosa’s claim denying the GCTA claim as hogwash. Dela Rosa while he received numerous complaints, as former head of the Bureau of Corrections last year, from relatives of convicts who were getting squeezed for payments in exchange for their early release under the GCTA, but they never came out with any evidence to prove their GCTA for sale claims.
It was Senator Risa Hontiveros who raised the GTCA for sale claim during the Senate hearing on the aborted plan to release rapist-murderer Antonio Sanchez who as serving multiple life sentences.
Pacquiao agreed that it was wrong to release Sanchez and all other criminals convicted of heinous crimes, but he maintained that the “GCTA-for-sale” claims are just too fantastic and clearly exaggerated.
