Lacierda, Valte diss Hilbay over weak PNoy messaging comment: We’re far from perfect but we’re not credit-grabbers

Trouble is brewing in the yellow camp.

Two former Palace communication officials hit back at former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay for taking swipe at the alleged communication problem that hounded the Aquino administration.

Hilbay is one of the senatorial candidates of the opposition bloc endorsed by former President Benigno Aquino III.

Former Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda took to Twitter to defend his communication team from Hilbay’s criticism, saying at least it was not taking credit for other people’s work.

“President Aquino’s administration may not have communicated as assiduously all the achievements as it should have but one thing we do not do is to claim credit or victory for the work of what other people did,” he said.

Abigail Valte, former Deputy Presidential spokeswoman, also unleashed a series of tweets rebuking Hilbay.

“We were far from perfect. Mistakes were made. I don’t speak for myself, but am standing up now to defend the service of my colleagues and family, the young women and men behind OPS-PCDSPO,” she tweeted.

“If @fthilbay finds himself in a less than desirable place in the surveys, there are many ways available to him to improve that standing,” she said.

Valte told Hilbay that criticizing the previous communications team criticism won’t get him votes in the Senate race.

“Taking a swipe at the work of our team in order to establish a measure of independence from the Yellows — or the former president, for that matter — is not one that will get him votes,” she said.

“Believe me when I say that I did not want to air this publicly. I’ve avoided friction as much as I can. But using our team’s work in a public forum is not something I will let pass. Good luck to you, Sir,” she added.
