Lacson on two faces of justice in PH: Corrupt bureau director roams free while clerk rots in jail

“Do we really deserve this?”

Senator Panfilo Lacson is disappointed with the apparent unfair justice system in the country, citing two cases of public servants linked to corruption.

“Two faces of justice, only in the Philippines: One, at least a bureau director, who steals big time but doesn’t serve jail term even after a guilty verdict; another, a small time crook most likely a clerk who rots in jail even without a court sentence,” he tweeted.

Lacson recently slammed the appointment of a sacked Bureau of Customs (BOC) district collector at the Manila International Container Port (MICP) to a higher post in the agency.

Vener Baquiran, who was relieved from his MICP post over alleged shabu shipment, was recently appointed BOC deputy commissioner of BOC on March 6.

Lacson lamented the administration was rewarding corrupt or incompetent officials with posts instead of the punishing them.
