Lacson says no cop dared play golf when he was PNP chief: Takot sa akin!
Senator Panfilo Lacson shared how strict he was as chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) as he welcomed the move of Metro Manila police chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas to ban policemen from playing golf on weekdays.
“Walang nakakapag-golf nung panahon ko kasi takot mga pulis sa akin when I was their chief,” Lacson told reporters in a text message Wednesday (October 16).
“Aside from golf, bawal na bawal din ang kotong at malalaking tiyan,” he added.
Sinas, himself a golfer, said he decided to ban playing golf for policemen on weekdays as part of the National Capital Region Police Office’s (NCRPO) “internal cleansing.”
The NCRPO chief said the time spent by policemen at a driving range could be used instead for work since a game of golf usually takes four hours.
Lacson called the weekday golf ban a “very sound marching order” since it echoed one of his firt orders when he was appointed PNP chief in 1999.
“I believe that police officers being government employees should sacrifice family time instead of that of the government,” he said.
