Lagot kayo! Gatchalian: Mayors can revoke business license of abusive traders
The concerned local government units (LGUs) have the power to revoke the business permit of abusive traders in their localities.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian stressed this on Tuesday amid growing complaints of overpriced face masks and other basic goods following the eruption of Taal volcano.
“Ang local government may kapangyarihan din sila, pwede nilang i-revoke ang business permit ng establishment na ‘yun,” he said.
“At p’wede nilang kasuhan ng profiteering ang nagbebenta na napakamamahal na masks,” Gatchalian said in a chance interview.
He added, “Ang DoE (Department of Energy) may power over gasoline at kung may mga gas station doon na nagtataas dahil nag-hohoard sila ng gasoline, pwedeng pumunta ang DoE at kasuhan ang gas stations at i-revoke ang kanilang mga lisensya.”
Gatchalian denounced reports of overpriced face masks which made it difficult for residents in affected communities buy protective cover from ashfall.
“Nakita ko ang sitwasyon dun, talagang mahirap para sa mga kababayan nating lumikas at pumunta pa ng syudad para bumili so dun sila bibili ng mga gait at dapat bantayan ang presyo,” he said.
