Lagpas 70 percent pa! Palace: Duterte’s trust, approval ratings still high despite decline

Malacañang on Monday shrugged off the latest survey that showed a decline in the approval and trust rating of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“The rating is still high. It’s more than 70 percent. Surveys fluctuate depending on when they get them,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.

“If it’s taken at the time when there are controversies hounding it may affect the survey results. The fact remains that 70 percent plus remains high,” Panelo told reporters.

According to the latest Pulse Asia survey, Duterte obtained a trust rating of 74 percent, an 11-point decrease from last quarter’s 85 percent.

His approval rating also fell seven points from 85 percent in June to 78 percent in September, the same poll showed.

The survey was conducted from September 16 to 22 when the Senate was investigating the alleged anomalies inside Bureau of Corrections.
