Laki ng gastos! Even Imelda’s daughter shocked by P16B spent by Alan on SEAG
Even the daughter of former First Lady Imelda Marcos find Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s P16 billion budget for the Southeast Asia Games too big.
“Sa laki ng gastos natin, sana naman masiguro na mag-number 1 tayo sa SEA Games dahil kung hindi, tiyak na magagalit ang taongbayan!” said Senator Imee Marcos in a statement.
“Pero kinakabahan ako, kasi sa tingin ko, masuwerte na kung maka-5th place tayo sa SEA games,” she added.
Marcos pointed out that Cayeteno, as head of the privately owned Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Foundation, spent not only P7.5 billion for the SEA Games (including P1.5 billion deployed by PHISGOC without mandatory bidding) but also P9.5 billion for the New Clark City sports arena in the middle of nowhere.
The P55 million cauldron which adorns the Clark arena has been called “Imeldific” by Cayetano’s own ally, Albay Rep. Joey Salceda. Senator Franklin Drilon said the spendign was inappropriate and could’ve been better spent to build 50 classrooms.
