A Human Rights Watch (HRW) official hit actor Steven Seagal for “cozying up” with President Rodrigo Duterte in Sulu.
Phelim Kine, deputy director of HRW’s Asia Division, slammed “has-been” Seagal for rubbing shoulders with “potential crimes against humanity” Duterte.
Seagal is in the country to shoot a series titled “General Commander,” and has asked to go with Duterte to Sulu last Friday (December 1).
The actor, who is also known for his close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, went onstage to deliver a pep talk to soldiers and even offered help to counter terrorism.
HRW is among the fiercest critics of Duterte, with the organization calling the President’s regime a “human rights calamity.”
