It doesn’t add up.
Senator Panfilo Lacson isn’t taking hook, line and sinker retired Davao cop Arthur Lascanas’ claim that he experienced a “spiritual renewal” when he decided to recant his previous testimony on the existence of the Davao Death Squad.
Lacson said if Lascañas had a moral awakening as early as July 2015, why he waited 19 months or February 2017 to finally have the guts to make a public confession on Duterte’s alleged involvement in the DDS.
Lascañas said he attended the Senate hearing last October 3 and defended Duterte on the stand because he was afraid for the security of his family. But since his family has been secured as of February, he was now free to make his public confession against Duterte.
But Lacson said that if Lascañas was afraid of his and his family’s security, he should have done made the exposé immediately after having his moral awakening in July 2015 when Duterte was not yet President.
“Dapat noon ka pa lumabas noong nag-spiritual renewal at hindi pa delikado ang pamilya o, iba pa ang presidente noon. Dapat lumapit ka kay Senator Grace Poe or Vice President Jojo Binay or President Aquino kung talagang nagka-spiritual renewal ka. Hindi nag-add up,” said Lacson.
He said making a public confession was not yet on his mind in July 2015 because he thought he would die.
