Last hurrah! Coach wants Pacquiao to fight 2 more times then run for president
Senator Manny Pacquiao’s long time trainer wants him to fight two more times before hanging up his boxing gloves for good and running for president.
Freddie Roach told veteran boxing writer Dan Rafael in an interview that he has talked to Pacquiao about returning to the ring soon.
“I’ve had discussions with Manny on having two more fights for his career and then maybe (stay) in the politician side of it,” Roach said.
“Manny would like to fight a couple of more times and then run for the presidency of his country,” the famed boxing trainer added.
Pacquiao hasn’t been back in the ring since July last year, when he defeated Keith Thurman for the WBA (Super) welterweight belt.
Roach, who joked that he’s interested in running Pacquiao’s presidential campaign, said he believes the senator “will be really good” should he become president.
Pacquiao’s camp has yet to announce an opponent for his next fight. Roach, however, said he hopes the senator will be back in the ring by the end of the year or in early 2021.
