Lawyer s’ya! Palace confident Robredo won’t reveal state secrets

Malacañang is optimistic that Vice President Leni Robredo will not share sensitive information on the drug war with foreign entities.
“I am sure the VP, being a lawyer, is aware of that. I don’t think she would do that unless she proves us wrong,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in an interview with DZIQ.
Panelo said President Rodrigo Duterte warned Robredo against revealing state secrets to foreign entities to remind the latter of the limits of her appointment as Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs co-chairperson.
The Vice President earlier met with officials from both the United States Embassy and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to discuss the country’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“Merong predicate si Presidente kaya niya sinabi yun. Unang-una, she wanted access to all documents including classified info. Hindi kasama yun sa scope ng kanyang authority. Merong bagay-bagay, even us members of the Cabinet are not allowed to look into, kasi mga classified nga eh. Ang puwede lang diyan gaya NICA (National Intelligence Coordinating Agency) director, Secretary of National Defense, security sila eh. Pero kami, hindi kami dapat pumapasok doon,” he explained.
Panelo also clarified the government is not hiding anything in the drug war-related records.
“Marami namang information na puwede siya. Pero hindi yung classified. Pag sinabi mong classified talagang tiinatago yun sa mga hindi dapat nakakaalam. For your eyes only dun sa mga taong dapat may hawak like the NICA director, the President of the Philippines, at yung Secretary of National Defense, puwede rin yung PNP chief,” he said.
