Former Manila mayor Alfredo Lim still hasn’t gotten over the fact he lost to former President Joseph Estrada in the 2013 mayoralty race.
An incredulous Lim said he could not believe how Estrada was deemed qualified by the Supreme Court considering he has been convicted of plunder.
“It’s the biggest crime that can be committed by a public official,” Lim said.
“There are other good law-abiding citizens. Why not put them in office? Not those tainted with unsavory matters,” he added.
Lim said he has filed a motion for reconsideration asking the Supreme Court to reverse its ruling junking the disqualification case against Estrada because of his previous plunder conviction. The case was filed by Alicia Risos-Vidal, Lim’s lawyer.
The former mayor thinks he still has a shot at reclaiming his old post should the SC rule in his favor since he would have been the only qualified candidate for mayor in the 2013 polls.
